Syracuse has been transforming over the last 15 years, with projects such as the Marriott Syracuse Downtown, Salt City Market, the Chimes Building complex, Symphony Place and the Syracuse Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) High School. The towers share a concourse with the new INSPYRE Innovation Hub, New York State's largest business incubator, and are in the heart of the business and entertainment area of Syracuse. Businesses are accelerating, innovators are investing, and the area is growing with more restaurants, retail stores and nightlife venues.
Micron Technology is building the largest economic development project in New York State history, on a site of approximately 1,400 acres. When complete, its semiconductor memory fab complex will be the largest in the U.S. Micron announced the project in 2022 and plans to invest up to $100 billion over the next 20 years, bringing about 9,000 direct Micron jobs and up to 50,000 jobs across the region. The groundbreaking in January 2026 officially kicked off the project, and the first fab is expected to become operational in 2030.
